So, a blog I follow posted the following story recently. I found it interesting to say the least, and thought I would paste it here:
----------------------
" From a teacher in the Nashville area. Excellent analogy:
Who worries about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream? The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.
The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.
I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.
To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.
We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.
We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections.
Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother.
The day arrived when they were to make their speeches Jamie went first.
He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best.
Everyone applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise.
She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down.
The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream." She surely could say more. She did not have to.
A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure.
Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it? She didn't know.
The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream.
Jamie was forgotten.
Olivia won by a landslide."

That was an interesting perspective. What happens in the grown up world? To each there own, right?

Oh, I posted this in relation to our own presidential election. I did edit out the original comments and I will tone them down a bit here, but they were to the effect of how half our country heard 'ice cream' and didn't really care about the 'cow' itself. How it was going to be paid for or who'd clean up the mess.

Hey, thought this might be interesting to you all! I read an article on YAHOO the other day that said Obama's approval rating has fallen and is lower then Bush's was at this time in his presidency in 2001. I guess people expected change faster than it has happened. I guess what they did not think about is that is sometimes takes time!

"If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin." Samuel Adams, 1776 " The time has come for all american patriots to stand up and speak out!

His numbers are dropping in the nationwide polls and it is linked to healthcare reform.

Obama is out selling his health care when there are many other problems that he should be working on national security, like the security of our borders. I guess the federal government won't do any thing until a"9-11" happens because of this terrible situation. I don't want ice cream from obama, I want him to man up and take the necessary UNPOPULAR steps and take control of our borders.

This guy I know was talking yesterday about our president and he said that most everyone he knew voted for him because they knew he would be bringing us change. I guess that is not happening fast enough for them and the way they thought it would cause now they are saying oopps.

What do you think of this Nobel Peace Prize? I heard it was to soon for this to happen. That they should have waited.
I don't know.

My Opinion on the Peace Prize?? The reason they gave it to him was for effort to promote hope. The Nobel Peace Prize is an award for Achievement EFFORT is not ACHIEVEMENT - period. Let me put it this way for example: Person 1: I can't pay my rent this month Person 2: That's ok - you put in alot of effort so we are going to let you live here anyway.... [right.....]

It really seems tough times are ahead for Obama. The on the job training is now no longer working for him and his Chicago thugs. I totally respect the office of the President and Obama has no business being in that position.

Whats happening it our country right now,,,,,,,,,,,, If you put a frog in boiling water he will jump out. If you put him in cold water and slowly bring it to a boil he will sit in the boiling water until it is kills him. Seems like the Obama is using the cold water method.
