8-3-10: Omar Thornton, a driver for a warehouse was caught stealing. After agreeing to resign, he went on a shooting rampage. He killed eight people and injured two others before committing suicide.

Today August 6, 2010 marks the 65th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. A few days later, August 9th, 1945 another atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki.

9-17: The first drill of the bore hole reaches the miners trapped in Chili. Now the shaft must be widened to 26 inches before the miners can be hoisted out one by one. This is still weeks away. They have been trapped since 8-5.
