That is if we could all afford it, the economy being what it is, right?

It is said that the economy will get better, we need to focus on what we do have, can control and stop looking what has happened. America has see worse.

Now if companies take money, their top officials and CEOs will have to take a salary cap of $500,000.

I agree with Obama on this one, its the peoples money not the CEO's.
If they take the government money there should be a cap for CEO's and total accountability for any money accepted.
This money should not be used to make the rich richer while people are losing jobs.

Yup. Has to be some kind of cut off for them taking the money to begin with. But goes to show you that it is out of control if it has to be policed.

Jumping on the band wagon says it all. Someone gets someone, someone else wants it, too. Have never been able to understand how things just spiraled out of control and everyday you heard how more and more and more companies were sold overnight, filed for Chaper 11, laid off hundreds of employees and then said, give us money to survive. What a mess!

Well, that is interesting, but it doesn't fix the problem.

Here is a question - speaking of giving and taking money... what is going on with DES funding? I hear it is getting pulled and people are either losing their funding for childcare or having to pay twice the amount if not more than what they are paying now. If that is true, how can those who are on DES afford their childcare to be able to go to work in the first place? If they can't afford it and can't work, then do they use more of the system and find themselves in a deeper hole? How is that for their betterment or the betterment of our country??

How about instead of asking for money, evaluate what needs to be different to start generating it again?
|
|
|
Post by route66 on Mar 20, 2009 19:47:25 GMT -7
DON'T need to generate it...our government just decided to PRINT money . Hyper inflation is on the way. ie., average interest rate in 1980 was @17% for a , car loan.
|

|
Post by kbs on Mar 25, 2009 18:33:54 GMT -7
Yeah, I don't think 17% interest is good for anyone, but the banks. Printing more money drops the value of the dollar. There has got to be a better way...

Tax cuts rather than printing more money is the better way to an economic recovery.
Put the power to heal the economy in the peoples hands rather that the Banks, Wall Street, and the Government.
O, I see Obama got his picture on our U.S. currency, It was the Food Stamp dollar...

Well, something has to give, making more money makes it worth less. How about fixing the problems at the source instead?

The problem isn't supposed to go away for a while and there are a lot of business that are closing up shop due to the downward spiral of the economy. This band wagon of diaster we are all on needs to stop and soon before there aren't any business left and everyone is riding the system to make basic ends meet!

I am worried about this "band wagon of diaster," too. The shaky ground our economy is on has taken its toll on small business employers. As an employee of one, it is sad to see such hardship fall on a business that was built from literally the ground up.
I am concerned and although there is a plan for survival, the effects of this will haunt us for a very long time. "Robbing Peter to pay Paul" can only work for so long before there is nothing left to take.

Sidenote to the bailout deals - even the ABC show "Ugly Betty" did a spin on this.
If you aren't familiar with the show, you don't have to be to get this irony.
Their money was stolen by an employee and in order to keep their fashion magazine "MODE" afloat, they went to the governement and asked for $75 million.
They were denied because of their own personal spending habits getting caught in the media.
Moral of this story? Instead of letting their magazine go under, the owners sold their own properties and invested their own money into trying to keep it a float until they were able to get back on their feet.
The co-editor said something to the effect that they got themselves into this mess, it isn't fair to ask the average everyday guy to get them out of it.
I thought that was interesting.

It is intertesting because fiction is often based on fact and by building it into a TV show connects with the viewers. The downside to that is, we see and hear SO much about this on a daily basis that when we come home at night it is often good to submerge yourself in a little fiction and break away from reality.

We haven't noticed a change on our paychecks not have we received any real help yet. If anything, we are struggling more and more. How come the big people get help and the little people suffer for it? Can anyone explain that one? Anyone??

Almost 80% of America have healthcare. This is not about Healthcare, it's like Domestic Violence, it's about Power and Control.
